AFA 2011 Report [Day 2: The Masses Amassed]

It was Day 2 of Anime Festival Asia 2011 at Suntec City Convention Centre, and I'm stuck with a broken shoe, concert-hangover, and an unsatisfactory breakfast.

But truthfully, never felt better.

Wonder Festival 2011 Summer Highlights

Welcome to Wonder Festival 2011, the Summer edition, an event where top toy and figure manufacturers gather to display their latest works to the public, for your sake and wallet's worth.

Wonder Festival, biannually held during the Summer and Winter seasons in Chiba City, Japan, was held for the 14th time on July 24th, Sunday, from 10:00 to 17:00 at Makuhari Messe, as droves of cosplayers, figure enthusiests and garage kit sculptors gathered to attend of of the most anticipated events of the year.

Puella Magi Madoka ★ Magica Cafe

UPDATE 5 (6/20): A special "Kyuubee Contract Set" meal has been introduced, attracting over 200 customers! with new coaster designs, all at the Latest Update section.

UPDATE 4 (6/20): The sudden invasion of fujoshi, leaving behind a trail of incredible fan art, viewable at the Latest Update.

The Good Smile Cafe invites you into the world of magical girls and witches, with their latest cafe theme, the Puella Magi Madoka ★ Magica Cafe, from May 3rd to July 18th.

From the mahou-shoujo-massacre anime, Puella Magi Madoka Magica, the Good Smile Cafe has turned into a portal to a magical dimension, where tons of decorations and merchandises plastered and littered everywhere within the cafe, from tables to shelves and even the toilet.

To promote the insurgency of more international visitors, the Japan National Tourism Organization has turned towards the brave global demography, hopefully willing to endure the rumours of nationwide radiation that has driven away most of Japan's visitors and anything that stands in their way; the otaku population.

Custom Nendoroids Anjou Naruko, Honma Meiko and Tsurumi Chiriko have been conceived by an avid fan of drama anime Ano Hana.

Nendoroid Generations: The Game

Super Deformation Formation! 

As most of you are aware, the Nendoroid series will be going digital onto a PSP platform sometime soon, titled Nendoroid Generations (ねんどろいどじぇねれーしょん). This is the result of a collaboration with Namco Bandai and Good Smile Company, announced as a project at GSC's 10th Anniversary party which had JAM Project rocking the house ^^.

A custom "Nendoroid Gotou Imouto", the younger sister of Kuroneko (or Gotou Ruri) has been given the custom treatment and the detailing is incredible.
She even comes with her plush toy! Such dedication and fandom from a 2ch user ^^

She's been added to the Nendoroid collection at the "Latest Nendoroid Closeups" section. ^^

Guma-chan welcomes and beckons you to join her at the Good Smile Cafe in Chiba, with their latest cafe theme, Nendoroid Cafe, starting from April 5th (Tuesday).

For the duration of this theme, the cafe has been decorated with tons of their flagship figure series "Nendoroid", plastered everywhere from walls to shelves and even tables.

Come and drown yourself in this amazing Nendo-experience as you are surrounded by hundreds of Nendoroid faces while enjoying a "dining together with a Nendoroid" encounter, with a special menu.

This is heaven-sent for Nendo lovers and I can't blame them. This is absolute eye candy to any lucky customer that walks through those doors. Makes me wish I was there too ^^;

A definite must-go if you've visiting Japan anytime soon. as the closing date of the theme has yet to be announced.The theme might even be up for a few weeks/months considering this is GSC own cafe and series, bunched and rolled up into a ball of goodness for you to savour for the next few days. The theme will end at the end of this month on April 30th, so get there are quick as you can! （＾∀＾）

Of course, to those who would love to teleport themselves right now but can't, I hope these images can bring you that much closer to the cafe which is the purpose of this post. Also, it seems this "cafe" segment is becoming a regular thing, hence the birth of the "CAFE" tag ^^

Behind her are rooooooows of Nendoroid packages and Nendoroids displayed as part of the deco! Wow!

It's been 4 months since I last posted anything regarding "loots" that I've picked up, thanks to a very active schedule, adding to the fact I was overseas for awhile while a few more packages was added to the storeroom pile before I actually got to opening most of them. Honestly, I have no idea just how much I've already invested (really?) on this hobby and I'm not gonna bother counting; don't need to fool myself into how much I actually spend. I've got receipts to remind me T_T.

Mr.Yen's been getting stronger, not to mention shipping these days aren't getting any cheaper, which will and always suck. Still, lots of sales have been popping up (shipping and price discounts) to keep buyers buying and spenders spending, so might as well take advantage of such sales ^^

Simmoned Figures #6 - GSC Nendoroid Yuki Miku 「ねんどろいど 雪ミク」

It's certainly been awhile since I've last posted anything regarding bootlegs, many thanks to RL issues one can handle at a time.

But I've re-realized the importance of such fakes that are out there to swindle and part our hard-earned muulah for a fake product. GSC too as come to the same conclusion as they've posted the latest info about a fake product of theirs circulating online auction sites and from privates sales.

Remember kids; if you're gonna spend on something, at least be sure of what exactly you're spending on.

So our bootleg this time is Nendoroid Yuki Miku (WF2010 Winter Limited Edition).
As this was an exclusive, those whom managed proxy services or purchased on-site (at Sapporo or WF2010, if memory serves) would have gotta their hands on genuine goodies. Sales after that are at buyers own risk, so be aware of news on limited manufacturing of such products.
