Finally, the idea of role playing Shiro managed to get through. And low-and-behold, we have an RPG coming up! A Fate RPG... how bliss....

Nice...

We've always debated (and still are) on what would it be like to have Saber as your personal servant? Well, she technically is, as you are bound to her by master/servant contract on the first night you met in any game of Fate. Except you are stuck to the arcade type versions like Fate/Unlimited Codes, which kills the feeling of "owning" her, ya know?

From the screen shots, it definitely looks like a Persona 4 to me, along with the battle concept. And that's a good thing people... (go play P4 to find out how good!)

So incorporating this idea ain't too bad. A free dynamic environment with power-ups (hopefully) like in FF series?... kinda nice. Having it simulate FF is wishful thinking as I can only pray the graphics are upped a lot more.

With the clock set on the HUD, I can't help but feel nostalgic to the time I played Persona 4. Lol.

I guess Type-moon is also catering the female fans, with the choice of gender when starting out. Although it might just be a side character which ever you choose. And, you're not on the same time line as Shiro is, as I think, its much different from the main Fate/stay Night storyline we all know...

Battle scenes look impressive enough but too early to comment yet. But it looks like it incorporates the FF style of "turn-based attacks". How boring...(if it is). My money is on P4 style of battle (although it's still "turn-based attack" type) as it's more interactive...

Looks like Saber and Lancer went for a little tune up. Saber now come in red (how seductive) with transparent service~! Haha. And Lancer looks much better than the previous "dickhead-in-tights" image. A change of design for his left arm can't hurt much too. Looks grafted thought...

So for a Fate RPG, a win for many of us, but I cant help but point out the problems of this RPG type;
  • Fate has a limited number of areas to explore, following the original protagonist plot.
  • May have a limit number of battles as there are only 7 main enemies to face.
  • No way to level up? Must have a exp gaining environment.
  • Upgradeable? To what exactly? Maybe or maybe not...
These are all early criticisms as most of the gameplay and systems aren't even completed. But to make it a success, they need to consider these areas where it's lacking, ALOT. Because the Fate series is already (and still) a huge hit in Japan, I can only imagine the look on their faces when the news was out on Fate/EXTRA and it comes out like crap or worse...

So Type-moon, don't disappoint them and the rest of us, ok?
